I have always had a big, fluffy comforter on my bed. Lately, I have been finding them to be too hot, too heavy, and too restricting when trying to sleep. I told my husband I wanted to replace the comforter with a quilt, and off we set in search of one. After leaving the 5th store with no quilt my husband has an idea.
"Old ladies like quilts, right?"
"I guess so" I respond.
"Old ladies like to shop at JC Penny, right?"
"Yeah."
"We'll find one at JC Penny!"
I guess my husband was implying that I am morphing into a little old lady now that I want a quilt on my bed? I'm a little annoyed, but indeed, we did find a quilt at JC Penny.
Now that I am a proud quilt owner, I guess pretty soon I should count on signing up for an AARP card and demanding my senior citizen discount at the 3:00 dinner buffet?
What's on your bed? Blanket, quilt, comforter, or other? Have you ever been hit suddenly with the idea you just aren't a spring chicken anymore?

Bwhahahaha! Wanting a quilt on your bed doesn't make you an old lady. You would be horrified by mine & Chris's bed. We have a quen size and he's got one comforter and I have my own. He's a blanket hog, so we each have our own. On my side I have three blankets in addition to my comforter, but I am ALWAYS cold.
ReplyDeleteWe sleep on top of a huge down comforter in the winter. Yes, I said on top of, haha, it's too hot to get under it, but hubby loves it, so I leave it in there and we use the lightweight blanket at the end of the bed as our actual cover.
ReplyDeleteMy 'old age indicator' these days comes in the form of 1). knowing I already told a story and telling it again (something we just tolerate from our elders, lol) and 2). I actually heard myself ask my 19-yr old to 'bring me my coffee, would ya?' when he was visiting over the Christmas break. Oh.my.gosh.
Since I am officialy an "Old Lady" I do have a quilt on my bed..... but I am through with menopause so I also have a heavy wool blanket on top the quilt. I am toasty warm at night!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe, you are just low on magnesium or potassium or something of that sort. You are FAR from old.
Yup...life continues to race past at breakneck speed...and I'm a card carrying member of AARP (don't tell anyone though). I'm still pushing the comforter aside. Like the quilt idea though :-P
ReplyDeleteWell if that's the case then I'm an old lady too ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the quilt! We have a thin, but warm...TOO warm blanket on our bed because hubby gets cold easily. I get hot easily though. I LOVE quilts, and I used to have one on our bed, but somehow our daughter now has it on hers lol. I really want to get another one though! Us "old ladies" know what we want right? ;) bahahaha.
ReplyDeleteHey Theresa! hey, back off ...old lady! Speaking of old lady I will be the big six oh in about six weeks!!!! But luckily I am like my Mom and her Dad. They didn't grow older they just didn't get older. Both were dancing and singing til the day they died. (well sort of) I have that in my genes / make up (not jeans and makeup) and so I shall also be as young as I feel. Some days I feel 80 and other days I feel 30. So there. and ...T.H.A.N.K. Y.O.U. for your fun and awesome comments on 2 of my posts, darling!!!! (hug)
ReplyDeleteoh and btw, I still have a comforter on my bed. Quilts are for old ladies. LOL
note: new button is in construction.
You are not an old lady at all! When. I first knew you I couldn't believe you have 2 big girls already! :)

ReplyDeleteBahaha! Hilarious. To be honest, I've always been a senior citizen at heart ;-)
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha...I swear, this is just too funny Theresa!! But at least you get to sleep comfortably now :D
ReplyDeletehaha. I heard that AARP cards are good! Nothing wrong with it. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! You are not old!
ReplyDeleteHaha. I just found out my son has been telling people I'm old. He's in first grade, and his story goes something like this "We really want a baby, but we might not be able to have one, because my mom is too old. She turned THIRTY at the beginning of school this year!!"
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, though, I always get really hot at night, so we usually have his and hers bedding, other than the fitted sheet on our bed. Haha. Since we moved our bedroom down to the basement, where it's much cooler, I've been sleeping at least part of the night with a blanket, but when we were still upstairs, I always slept with just a sheet. My husband usually uses two blankets, though.
